We are delighted that GWR have confirmed 2 car operation from the 2nd January 18 timetable.

The rolling stock is being cascaded from the electrification programme. High passenger growth and overcrowding on some services has meant TransWilts was an early priority for the trains. Initially there will be selective door operation introduced at Melksham Station as the 2 car platform lengthening by Network Rail has been delayed.

Melksham Station passenger growth continues

Melksham passenger numbers grew by 23% last year to  74,666. This growth rate is substantially above the rest of the GWR region. In total the Melksham passenger growth is 676% since the TransWilts service started in December 2013

Preliminary Melksham Survey Results

Melksham station surveys were carried out on 45 trains covering 1,546 passenger journeys and 194 survey forms completed.

Volunteer hours had an equivalent value of £1,064.

Top four journey improvements requested were passenger information, toilets, more train seats and bus connections.

Melksham Station Survey completed

Over the weekend of 21st and 22nd October, volunteers from TransWilts Community Rail Partnership and Melksham Rail User Group surveyed all passengers departing through Melksham station.

Chippenham Rail Users Group Inaugural Meeting Sept 21st

Chippenham station has 1.8 million users per annum yet does not have a users representation group. There is an first meeting of a prospective Chippenham Rail User Group being held on 21st September at Methodist Church Hall, Monkton Hill, Chippenham.
