Members attended the Annual General Meeting on 6th May.

At the meeting Dan Okey from GWR gave an interesting and informative presentation of the current status in our region. Graham Ellis provided members with an overview of the Community Rail activities and highlights from the past year. The principal success being the Designation of the TransWilts service. Paul Johnson presented the Annual Report of the CIC - a pdf download is available to subscribing members on the newsletter page of the Friends Area.

Melksham Station passenger growth continues

Melksham passenger numbers grew by 23% last year to  74,666. This growth rate is substantially above the rest of the GWR region. In total the Melksham passenger growth is 676% since the TransWilts service started in December 2013

Preliminary Melksham Survey Results

Melksham station surveys were carried out on 45 trains covering 1,546 passenger journeys and 194 survey forms completed.

Volunteer hours had an equivalent value of £1,064.

Top four journey improvements requested were passenger information, toilets, more train seats and bus connections.

Melksham Station Survey completed

Over the weekend of 21st and 22nd October, volunteers from TransWilts Community Rail Partnership and Melksham Rail User Group surveyed all passengers departing through Melksham station.

Chippenham Rail Users Group Inaugural Meeting Sept 21st

Chippenham station has 1.8 million users per annum yet does not have a users representation group. There is an first meeting of a prospective Chippenham Rail User Group being held on 21st September at Methodist Church Hall, Monkton Hill, Chippenham.
